Recently, my wife attended her niece’s wedding in Bangalore. Traditionally, the whole event starts with the bride getting decked with Mehndi – an Indian art similar to tatoo but very colorful and intricate. Mehndi lasts about a week as it starts to fade, hence there is no permanent scar left on your skin. A simple mehndi on my friend’s hand cost about $15 in Devon street in Chicago. However, for the same amount you get a incomparable, fabulous piece of work from the expert hands during the marriage. Here are some photos of this great work!
The best thing is not just the bride getting this work done, but all her friends and family members. Thus there is a separate time for this decorating. It lasted about 3 hours long to get quite a big group of young girls and young-at-heart decked by a single person. The bride had another expert spend a couple of hours just on her.
