Outsourced

We watched a delightful movie Outsourced last week. It does a great job in depicting the clash of cultures – Indian and American. The acting was superb especially the lead actress who plays Asha, an employee in a call center based out of a suburb of Mumbai. Todd Anderson has to go to India to train his replacement and what turns out is comical. The film director has does an outstanding job of researching the cultures, mannerisms of Indians – both young and old. The film brings to the fore two issues – one, arranged marriage and two adultery among Indian girls. Arranged marriage, while a big part of the marriage scenario is not set while one is a child. Secondly, adultery among Indian girls isn’t as prevalent as one takes away from the film. Outsourced coming after Slumdog gives a different twist to India and Mumbai – not entirely fictional.
