Gondola ride from the Timber lodge

Taking up the Gondolas to the top of the nearly 10000ft peak behind the Timber lodge was an experience. If you are skier you might do this routinely. Not us. At the first platform, we took some nice pictures. The day was overcast and as you see from the photos, we were pretty close to the clouds! The fact is the camera compresses distant objects at wide angles and it works well to give the whole pictures. Two shots below of Mr and Mrs Ash. I had set the XS to F16 – following the sunny 16 rule and had my circular polarizer on. Rama thought she took a great shot of me ;-). I also had the flash on for a fill flash effect. This is more evident in the photo I am in.

As I read many professional photographers point out, amateur photographers put in a lot of sky into the picture. That doesn’t make it interesting unless it adds some perspective or had clouds in it. Clouds add to the mood of the picture some times and sometimes just make it more interesting visually as in these two below.
