Tit-for-tat?

As a leader, you will be faced with numerous challenges. One such challenge is when a team member has his or own agenda and does not play with the team. How do you deal with such vagaries? Do you want to confront him or talk to him about it? More likely than not, talking about (forget about confronting – that is not a leadership quality), it might not always work. Though a team consists of members, each and every one of them is a leader by himself or herself. It is just that there is a point person for effective functioning instead of many. If a member is a leader, he or she wouldn’t have their own agenda in the first place. So what is the best thing to do? It would be to set the right example. Wait for an opportunity and demonstrate the importance of the requirement. More importantly by not going tit-for-tat, you would already have reinforced your leadership skills and stopped yourself from stooping to the same (low) level. Good leaders learn pretty fast to play with the team always.
