The Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens is set on the ocean in the Big Island. It is just spectacular – no other words can describe it better. You might think flowers and plants can be boring, but wait till you see the setting at the HTBG. The variety of flora and fauna is incredible and you are surprised at every turn. The visit to the Botanical gardens was certainly one of the highlights of the visit. I would rate this higher than any beaches – after all, you see so many beaches all over the world, but it is rare to see a man-created entity in symphony with nature. I don’t remember the names of all the flowers I took photos of, but the pictures speak better than words. It is a botanist’s dream to visit this place. You can read about it at http://www.htbg.com/.
The property also sits on the ocean edge and you have spectacular views of the surf beating against the land. In addtion, there are some nice waterfalls inside the gardens and a owner’s bird house with colorful parakeets. You will want about 2 hours at least. Taking photos is a challenge as the thick fauna throws a lot of shadows on the flowers and the wind keeps them moving incessantly.
