Happened to visit Atlanta. Had time to visit the Centennial Olympic park in downtown. The drive got a bit busy heading into downtown. I had had lunch at Chatpatti, a great place for Indian chaats and food. Then drove to the park. My GPS took me to a different park but I was able to find the right place which is in and around the main attractions in downtown Atlanta – the world’s largest aquarium, CNN center, etc. The park itself is commemorative of the 1996 Olympics and the main attraction is the water fountains that reverberate to music at set times. I saw a lot of children having fun on this hot, humid afternoon. Till then I had come away admiring the northern suburbs of the city where Teradata’s office was – broad roads, lush lawns even on roadways, southern architectural glimpses, colonial homes hidden behind a mask of trees and brick compound walls, great and numerous restaurants for a vegetarian. But the sun took its toll on my impressions too for a life after retirement here. I managed to take some photos. The cloudy skies didn’t make it easy, but I got some decent shots on my G12.
