After all the ceremonies for late mother, had a chance to meet with some of my friends from High School and pre-university college. We met at Maiyya’s in Jayanager 4th Block. Maiyya’s is a newer joint – it wasn’t there when I last visited Bengaluru in 2011. It is flocked by people all the time. Think it has 4 floors and I am not surprised if all of them are always occupied, so busy is the place. Food is simply great. Simple South Indian food like dosa, idli, rava idli, etc. The place also has a buzzling bakery section on the ground floor and has some wonderful snacks, sweets, pastries and ice cream for the go. With Maiyya’s, guess people don’t miss MTR (Mawalli Tiffin Room), which is an icon of Bengaluru, known for its South Indian food and has a well established history with many presidents and celebrities visiting it regularly. The problem with MTR is parking. In the past, they had only one location near Lalbagh, but now have expanded to a few more locations in the city. MTR is known for its packaged food outside India.
Anyway, it was a good turn out for the meet and it was great to see old friends. We were talking away the evening even before entering Maiyya’s and after food, again at its doorstep.
