Well, there are arguments to both sides of it. You shouldn’t skip breakfast if medical conditions mandate you. But body builders, who know how to control their body best, follow what is called as intermittent-fasting (IF). Read about this here and it might make sense. Early man didn’t have the concept of breakfast, lunch and dinner. He would eat when he was hungry. The modern man said you have to have three meals in a day and the same modern man also made life simpler by increasing automation and productivity and we didn’t have to go hunt for food or even cook!! It is a double whammy in a way! A NY times article quotes research that state skipping breakfast has little or no effect on weight gain. BTW, I skip breakfast because I follow IF.
